Rnd 2: (2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st) 3 times. (9)
Rnds 3-4: Sc even (9) Don't break off yet.
This is the chick's head. If you want to stitch on eyes and a beak, it will be easiest to do so now. I used giant plastic eyes, but you could use small beads or even french knots. For my beak, I took orange yarn, joined where I wanted the beak to go, ch 4 tightly, then break off.  With tapestry needle, join the ch back to the chick's head and sew down. Now continue to work the body.
Rnd 5:  (2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts) 3 times. (12)
Rnd 6: (2 sc in next st), 1 sc in next 3 sts] 3 times. (15)
Rnds 7-8: sc even. (15)
Rnd 9: Sc dec 8 times. (7) Sl st to next st. Break off. Stuff Baby Chick lightly with yellow yarn or fiber fill. Pick up remaining 7 loops through tapestry needle and pull to close.

Wings & Tail (optional: use smaller weight yarn)
With chick facing up, insert hook where you want the wing and join. In the same st, ch 3, sl st, ch 3, sl st, and break off. The right side of the chs should be facing down so that the wings point down. Repeat on the other side of chick where you want the other wing. And repeat again wherever you want the tail.

Sugar Bunny (optional: use smaller weight yarn)
